Journal:

Compare and contrast plant and animal cells.

We worked on a 3D  model of a cell today for class. You can use materials you have at home if you missed class today. Make sure to have an adult help you with cutting your cell in half.

Tuesday 12/8

Journal:

1. What is an organelle?
2. List 5 organelles and their functions.

Today we went through a PowerPoint to review cell organelles, then filled out a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting plant and animal cells. You should label one side of your Venn diagram "Plant Cells" and the other side "Animal Cells" and list similarities in the center of the diagram.

Today we presented the cell organelle report you did on Friday to the class.

No journal today, we just got started right away on organelle reports.

First I collected your cells vocab homework.

We researched and made a poster of cell organelles today. Choose one organelle to research and draw a picture. We will present about your organelle in class on Monday.

Thursday 12/3

Journal:

Write a paragraph describing how the scale model of Earth you made is accurate. How is it inaccurate?

Today we finished scale model of Earth (finally!). I checked off your poster (50 pts) and you handed in the writeup (20 pts).

Then I handed out your new I can statements for Cells and assigned the vocabulary for homework (define all "science language students should use").

No journal.  I just had you prepare your presentation board.
