Today I collected your zoology vocab, then we took notes on zoology basics using this powerpoint.

We took our classification mastery quiz today. If you missed class, please come see me right away.

I handed out the zoology I can statements. Homework is to define all 15 "science language students should use" words on the back.

Journal:


  1. What kind of tree(s) would you know the name for just by looking at it/them?
  2. An organism is unicellular, prokaryotic, and is rod-shaped. Which kingdom?
  3. An organism is multicellular, has cell walls, but does not make its own food. Which kingdom?
  4. An organisms is multicellular, green, and makes its own food. Which kingdom?

Today we practiced using a dichotomous key and learned about the different trees native to Utah. I have only hard copies of the assignment and some materials that you'll need from me, so if you missed class today please come see me for makeup as soon as you return.

HW:  none, but remember there is a mastery quiz tomorrow (practice using dichotomous keys)

Journal:


  1. Choose two animals you know about and write a paragraph about each (as much as you know about them).

Today we reviewed 5 kingdoms of life by playing a game in class. The game doesn't need to be made up, but please  fill out the first page of this worksheet using the classification key for animal kingdoms on the back. Disregard the following pages of organism descriptions. Confused? Come see me!

Today I collected your classification packet from yesterday (we also corrected it together in class), then I handed back your Mother's Day cards so you can give them to your mothers on Sunday.

The remainder of the day we watched a movie on jungles and took notes, but no makeup necessary for this if you missed class today.
