Journal:
No journal today; we just took data for the quiz (Day 2). Get data from your lab partner if you weren't here today.
We finished the lab safety posters based on the rules on the lab safety contract, then worked on a metric system practice worksheet as a review of the metric system.
HW: Have lab safety contract signed and returned AND finish the metric system practice worksheet if not finished in class.
Here you will find what it was we did each day in class as well as links to important assignments and presentations, upcoming events, and science news and links.

No journal today; we just took data for the seed lab/quiz.
We reviewed the rules on the lab safety contract, then spent the remainder of class designing a poster that illustrates one of the rules. If you weren't in class, download a contract then come see me for materials for a poster.
HW: Get safety contract signed by parents and bring back Tues. 9/15/15

No journal question today. I just had you get lab equipment and get started on the experiment.
Today we did the experiment portion of your quiz. If you missed class, you will need to find a group to work with tomorrow and use their experiment to take data.
As a class, we will be finishing the entire quiz on Monday after you take your last set of data.
HW: none

How might you test this hypothesis?
If you drop different objects, they will fall at the same rate.
Today we went over the mastery quiz which is an experiment you will perform with a partner, then analyze and conclude on your own. We just went through the materials, procedures, and other items to know for the quiz. Be ready tomorrow to perform the experiment and answer questions about the independent variable, dependent variable, constants, and control. You will also make qualitative and quantitative observations and decide whether the experiment is true science or pseudoscience.
If you were not in class today, please come see me as soon as you get back. You will need a hard copy of the quiz and some time after school for me to explain it to you.
HW: none! :)

Differentiate between true science and pseudoscience.
Today we reviewed the true science vs pseudoscience activity we did on Thursday, I collected it, then we reviewed for the mastery quiz tomorrow using this PowerPoint. Please review the questions and quiz yourself! Any of it is fair game on the quiz tomorrow.
HW: Study for mastery quiz on observations, scientific method, parts of the experiment, and true v pseudoscience; QUIZ TOMORROW 9/9/15

What is missing from the line graph below?

Today we finished going over your Variables Practice Packet, then did an activity to discuss the difference between true science and pseudoscience (no makeup needed for that assignment).

Today we went over a PowerPoint about graphing and did an activity associated with what graphs are best for different sets of data. Here's the presentation. Feel free to print it, take notes from it, or just read over it.

- Suppose you want to find out how fruit production of zucchini plants changes in soils of varying pH (acidity). Identify the following for this question:
- Make a hypothesis
- Independent variable
- Dependent variable
- Constants
- Control
