Journal:
I had you spend the journal time today reading this list of possible science fair questions and marking those you think you could work on.
We spent the rest of class working on this science fair packet. This packet is due next Monday 10/26.
HW: Science Fair packet due Monday 10/26
Reminders: Sign up for science fair by 11/6, science fair data due 11/20, presentation board due 12/1
Here you will find what it was we did each day in class as well as links to important assignments and presentations, upcoming events, and science news and links.
Wednesday 10/21
Journal:
1. What is the density of water?
2. How do you calculate the volume of a rectangular solid?
Today we did a lab calculating the density of sponges and soaps. You can get the lab sheet and materials from me. If you missed class today, please see me for makeup.
HW: none

Journal:
1. How can you tell the volume of an object that isn't rectangular?
2. What is the volume of the seahorse below?
Today we did a lab with metal cubes and density. Here is the writeup for it. If you need supplies to make up the lab, please come see me.
We turned in the lab today.

Journal:
Write about something you've learned in any class this year so far.
Today we turned in your Mass, Volume, Density worksheet, late/hall passes from term 1, and the Liquid Volume lab from last Tuesday. Please get those turned in right away (last day for term 1 is tomorrow) if you weren't here today.
Then we went on a "density field trip" around the school.
HW: none, but the deadline to commit to our school's science fair is November 6th. We will start work on science fair this week, but keep in mind you will need to be making a decision about that soon.

Today we did a lab practicing measuring volume in preparation to measure density. Here is the writeup page, but you will need to see me to make up the actual lab.
HW: none, but I will collect mass, density, and volume worksheets and late and hall passes next Monday (next day of class) as well as your liquid volume lab, so be prepared
REMINDERS: Schoolwide testing tomorrow (no classes); Fall Break Thurs/Fri
- What is the formula for density? How can you remember it?
- If a metal cube has a mass of 10g and it is 2cm high by 2cm long by 2cm wide, what is its density?
- What is mass? volume? density?

Today I collected phases action heroes, then we went over the mass, volume, density worksheet from last week. If you are still not finished, please have it done by tomorrow 10/13. We will turn it in then.

Friday 10/9
Journal:
What units are typically used for mass, volume, and density?
Today we watched Bill Nye videos about atoms and molecules as a review of that section of this unit. No makeup work is necessary for today.
