No journal. We made one more entry in your Cell Day assignment. We will turn that in tomorrow and it will count as your mastery quiz for the microscope unit.

Then we went over and turned in your Osmosis practice problems and watched Bill Nye - Cells for the remainder of class.

Friday 2/5

No journal today. We made a fourth journal entry in "Cell Day."

We finished the Osmosis practice problems we started yesterday in class, then did another reading assignment about Anton Van Leeuwenhoek.

Thursday 2/4

No journal today. Instead, we made our third journal entry on "Cell Day."

After finishing that entry, we finished the Osmosis and Diffusion notes, then started some Osmosis practice problems.

Wednesday 2/3

No journal.

We started class by viewing a new specimen under the microscope and making a journal entry in your Cell Day Writeup.

Then we went through this Osmosis and Diffusion ppt. Please either print the powerpoint to keep in your notes or take notes from the slides.

HW:  Bring a new specimen to view under the microscope on Thursday (tomorrow) 2/4.

Tuesday 2/2

Journal:

Describe in detail how the cheek and onion cells were similar and different as viewed under the microscope.

Today we turned in your cheek and onion cell lab, then I checked off your microscope specimen. We started the week-long assignment "Cell Day" by making a microscope slide of the specimen you brought to class. You made one journal entry on the Cell Day Writeup.

Monday 2/1

No journal today.

We finished the Cheek and Onion Cell lab today. We will turn it in tomorrow. Make sure if you've been absent for this or the Using a Microscope lab you come see me asap to arrange a time after school to make it up.

Thursday 1/28

Journal:

Explain how to focus a microscope. Discuss which objective lenses should be focused first and last as well as which adjustment knobs to use with each objective lens.

I handed out new late passes and hall passes today so if you missed class, come see me to get them. We finished the Using a Microscope lab and turned it in today. For lab makeup, talk to me about coming after school to finish. We also made the onion slide for a new lab we'll finish on Monday:  Cheek and Onion Cell lab.

HW:  bring a specimen (living or once-living) to class by next Tuesday 2/2 to view under the microscope
